As Android Police reports, when the option to sort by oldest first disappeared, even people at YouTube thought it was a bug. However, it later turned out to be a purposeful change. To see the oldest videos on a channel, you'd just have to scroll instead.

"Me at the zoo" is a YouTube video uploaded on April 23, 2005. It is the first video to be uploaded to the platform. The 19-second video features YouTube's co-founder Jawed Karim, who was 25 years old at the time, in front of two elephants at the San Diego Zoo in California, noting their long trunks.
